Well here it is…The day we find out who gets four years to turn this ship around, or keep it on the same course, or even just run it straight into the ground. Here are my biggest fears and issues with the two major parties. If Barack Obama wins and some white extremist assassinates him, we are then left with Joe Biden. Great. Just friggin great. I have even less respect for Joe then I do Barack. Next issue, If John McCain wins there is a good chance he will be dead within the next four years. That leaves us with Sarah Palin…Who should have been left in Alaska.
Now with a sample ballot in front of me, I can see eight more parties that have their hats in the ring. I’m sure all of them have spent much time and effort to get onto the ballot. But let’s be serious. There are only two names I even recognize in the “Nomination by Petition Column.” And one of them is Ralph Nader…Again.
John McCain and Barack Obama will receive the largest portions of the popular vote. I’m going to assume that this will be the year that all other parties get a bigger piece of the pie, but it’s still going to be a much smaller piece. The two party system can be broken down over time, but you can’t start at the top. Changing the system happens at the bottom, at the lower levels, the grunts if I may. You want the Green Party to gain some recognition? Get bodies into the Senate. You want the Constitution Party to get some ground? Get members into the House of Representatives. Do some good shit, make a name for your party. By directly campaigning for the highest office in the government, you are shooting yourself in the foot. The media doesn’t really care about you, and the general public doesn’t even know who you are. This your vote counts shit is a joke anyway. All of the votes in the the electoral college will go to an (R) or a (D) anyway. I’m fed up. I guess it’s time to move to Canada and wear a Tuque. Aye.
